Upper Dolpo is one of the least exposed and remote areas of Nepal, which requires a permit for trekking on. It is also referred to as a “Forbidden Kingdom: as it was closed to foreigners and requires an expensive permit. The wild remoteness of the region, the views of the whitish glow of the peaks like Annapurna, Kanjirowa, Dhaulagiri as well as the stunning flora and fauna diversity makes the Upper Dolpo Trekking something out of a movie.

 

People living here are among the world’s highest dwellers that practice Bon-Po religion. Explore the Bon Po sect, look out for snow leopards, and walk through valleys like Ankhe, Renje to reach the wildly popular Phoksundo Lake. From here, cross the Kang La Pass and the SheyGompa to explore the traditions and culture of Buddhists residing here. Cross the Saldang La Pass for the more varied scenery of mountain peaks, followed by a visit to Sibu. Cross another pass, the Jeng La and move on to DhoTarap, Serkam, Tarakot, Dunai, and back to Juphal finally bringing the trip to an end.
