Trip Introduction

JomsomMuktinath Trek, an exciting trek offering a marvelous views of mountain vistas, landscapes, monasteries, temples, religious shrines, valleys and lots more. This trek covers the Mustang and Annapurna regions of Nepal including some UNESCO World Heritage Sites. Commencing from Pokhara we enter into the heart of lower Mustang district followed by ancient village of Kagbeni situated in the upper Mustang region and into the hidden kingdom, finally reaching to the pilgrimage town of Muktinath. Muktinath is visited by a huge number of internal as well as external Hindu and Buddhist pilgrims.

Our way towards Muktinath can be attained either by a direct flight from Pokhara (City of Heavens) to Jomsom or through drive from Beni-Tatopani observing amazing hillside view and dense green forests. From there we trek to Ghasa (2010 m), descending to Kali Gandaki River, crossing the extended bridge with the panoramic site of Dhaulagiri embracing us. We come across many welcoming villages and will be able to taste the typical delicious and mouthwatering Thakali food.

Our journey leads from Titi to Thukuche followed by Thini region finally reaching to Kagbeni (2810 m), the windy valley situated alongside the Kali Gandaki River. From Kagbedi we move towards upper Mustang finally reaching Muktinath (3710 m). Muktinath temple is one of the ancient Hindu temples, consisting of a golden temple of Lord Vishnu along with 108 scared water sprouts. It is considered as one of the eight most sacred shrines of Vaishnava related to Tirupati and Badrinath. From there we descend towards Jomsom (2720 m), where trekkers can enjoy the serene beauty of Dhaulagiri, Nilgiri, Tukuche and others. This amazing site of the mixture of Hindu and Buddhism, residing in nature’s most beautiful creation is a site worth not missing.
