Trip Introduction

Pike Peak – Dudkunda trail is the newly opened trekking route in lower Khumbu region. This trek is perfect for those people who want to explore the quieter virgin areas, which offers dramatic exploration of Himalaya. The trail follows the less crowded area with beautiful forest and high ridges enjoying the panoramic Himalayan scenery including Mount Everest, Kanchenjunga, Makalu, Lhotse, Manaslu, Annapurna and many other snow covered peaks, mountain glaciers, green pine and rhododendron forests, highly culture influenced villages, , holy monasteries, prayer walls and Holy lake dukunda.

The Dudh Kunda lies high in the mountains of the Southern Solukhumbhu directly under the Numbulr Himal Range and has several lakes with milky water. It is also known as lower Everest Trek. It lies off the beaten Treks and is perfect for nature lovers. this trek can only be done with camping. The trek goes into the Sherpalands and gives a great insight of their lifestyle. Dudh Kunda, a holy lake surrounded by mountainous terrain and believed to be the abode of Lord Shiva, is a popular destination for Hindu pilgrimage tour and for adventure trekkers.

Dudh Kunda situated in the lap of Mt. Numbur, locally known as Shorong Yul Lha, Protector of Solu Khumbu region. Dudh Kunda (which literally means milky lake) is believed to be a holy lake and the locals believe that taking a dip in the holy waters will have the wishes granted also where you will enjoy and see panoramic Himalayan views of Everest, Number, and Everest Himalaya range also Green forest with Rhododendron flowers, pine tree, wild animals ,birds such as Mountain Thars, Bears, Leopard, Jackal, Pheasant and Milky lake. Devotees believe that taking a dip in its holy cold water would absolve them from all their sins as well as bless childless families with children. During full-moon nights in August, pilgrims and Jhankris (Shaman Priests) hold a week-long celebration here. On the trail to Dudh Kunda, you’ll pass through Kaku, Basa, Taksindu and Beni, where you’ll see some breathtaking panoramic views of mountain peaks, sparkling waterfalls and tranquil lakes that will entice you to stop.

 

As you continue on, you’ll pass through dense forests of rhododendron, the national flower of Nepal, which are in bloom from March to May.  Also in the fall (September to December) when the weather is temperate and the sky is clear you can see these wild flowers in full bloom.  Views of flora and fauna as well as a variety of wildlife will catch your attention but not slow you down. However, the hospitality of the locals is one of the most heart-warming experiences one can come across in this area and they may have you stop to chat or entice you with something delicious to eat.

Dudh kunda trekking is admired trekking trail lies in Solu Khumbu region though less crowded then the nearest in Khumbu Himal range. Dudh Kunda (Milky Lake) is lies at the foot of Number Himal, Dudh Kunda Trekking trail taking you through dense forests of rhododendron and a variety of wildlife. The hospitality of the Sherpa people is one of the most heart warming experiences of the Solu area with long experience. In every August there is an influx of devotees of Hindus and Buddhist who come to perform cleansing ritual at the lake. At other time you are unlikely to meet anyone on this rarely traveled trail. Authentic Sherpa villages and Sherpas culture, rhododendron and magnolia forest, Buddhist Monastery to a series of beautiful lakes of which Dudh Kunda is the most revered.

Day 03: Trek to Japre 6-7 hrs
Day 04: Trek toPekey base camp(4068m) 5-6 hrs
Day 05: Early morning Pikey Peak top ( view point of hole Everest region mountain ) and trek to Banjang
Day 06: Trek to Serlo Monastery  5-6 hrs
Day 07: Visit to Thuptencholing monastery ,mapung  village and trek to Tosa Dada
Day 08: Trek to Sasara Beni 5-6 hrs
Day 09: Trek to Number base camp Dudkunda lake  and back to Sasara Beni
Day 10: Trek to Takshindu
Day:11 Trek to Ratnangge dada ( view point of hole Mahalagur range mountain)
